Monica Sambrano, Administrative Assistant - Senior in the Department of Developmental Dentistry

If you need access to the Chair of the Department of Developmental Dentistry, you had better be nice to Monica Sambrano. She is the gate keeper of the Chairman’s schedule and responsible for so many of the department’s daily operations. Monica reports directly to Ms. Patty Cerda-Arguijo, Manager of Finance and Administration, and is quickly approaching 5 years of service with her department. As Patty reflects on Monica’s duties and job performance, she makes the remark, “she’s one of our best people”!

Monica is dedicated and methodical about organization and making sure everything is running smoothly for her leaders. She works closely with Dr. Kevin Donly, Professor and Chairman, and Patty to meet the needs of their faculty, staff, and students. She does everything from answering the department’s main telephone line to managing critical projects like faculty promotion, tenure, and appointment packets. As she responds to what she enjoys most about our school, Monica states, “ I enjoy working in Developmental Dentistry…knowing that children receive great oral health care here is amazing”.

Facilitating several departmental functions, Monica enjoys promoting team spirit. This past Christmas, Monica along with her team, worked during lunch hours to turn their side of the ‘U’ corridor into Dr. Seuss’ Whoville by decorating the halls. Her team's festive decorations boosted morale and ignited a child-like holiday spirit for everyone who walked past. Faculty, staff, and students were seen taking selfies together and having a great time in the colorful village.

While off the clock, you can find Monica gardening or pursuing some type of arts & crafts activity. She modestly states that she’s “not the greatest” at them, but she enjoys them, nonetheless.
